Most cases of mesothelioma are in men aged 50-70 years who worked in occupations where they were exposed to asbestos, including: shipyard workers, auto mechanics, boiler makers, bricklayers, building inspectors, carpenters, drywallers, electricians, flooring workers, tile setters, furnace workers, glazers, grinders, insulators, iron workers, laborers, longshoremen, merchant marines, U.S. Navy veterans, maintenance workers, millwrights, operating engineers, painters, plasterers, plumbers, roofers, sand blasters, steam or pipe fitters, and welders. However, spouses of workers and children may have inhaled asbestos fibers brought home from job sites on clothing. We have worked with many women and children who developed mesothelioma as a result of their husbandsà exposure at work. Families of exposed workers often win large settlement awards.
